How To Earn By Posting?

A good solution to the mortgage crisis?

Instead of companies just kicking home owners out who can't pay, why don't the companies just calculate the amount and convert these sub-prime and arm mortgages to fixed mortgages that would most likely be for odd numbers of years, and get their money eventually and allow the owners to retain the house? Wouldn't this save the economy?
