How long after closing on a home to ask for a home improvement loan?

I just closed on a house on Friday, 9/17/10. The house is in need of some repairs but simply do not have the money to do so rightnow. Is it too early to apply for a home improvement loan or any other type of loan to try to come up with 10,000.00 to get a loan?
