Synovus 3Q profit hit by loan problems

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Synovus Financial Corp. profit slipped 8 percent in the third quarter as a struggling housing market in Florida discouraged the bank's borrowers from repaying their mortgages, the company said Thursday.
