Default Open Question: Need help, can't afford mortgage anymore. What can I do?

Five years ago I had to move because of work and tried for a year to sell my house. After a year of making rent ($650) and mortgage payments ($1480) I had to put my house on the rental market. I only received $800 a month for rent, but it helped me stay ahead. After four years of bad tenants I decided to sell again putting $15,000 and a lot of my time into it. Now for the last year and a half the house has sat empty and sadly so has my bank account. I make a modest living, my wife works, we have 2 small children but I am short every month about $800. The house is priced below market at $143,000. Since it is for sale I cant get a new loan, to make matters worse I have now fallen behind 2 months, The mortgage company wont refinance me for anything less, and while they are willing to do a short sale they have expressed to me that they are not willing to just take the deed, rather they would put me into forclosure. My house is in Florida in a nice area. Where can I get help?
